WHAT’S THE HISTORY AND CLASSIC MODELS OF EDGE BANDING?

According to research, for a long time, edge banding was unnecessary. Solid materials such as rock, wood, and metal were used to make tables and then desks. Edge banding was traditionally done by hand with common construction materials and tools until recently. The demand for furniture expanded tremendously as society advanced. Because using solid pieces of wood was prohibitively expensive, Gustav Carlson’s notion of laminating softwood panels and calling it 3-ply veneer work, as well as Dr. James Nevin’s creation of a fully waterproof glue, found favor in the high-volume, repetitive manufacturing business. After this, modern edge banding is slowly happening. Plywood, particle board, and MDF were all made from a variety of materials. Because of this variability, edge banding needed to be more creative.

WHICH ARE THE BEST EDGEBANDERS?

Of course, you may be familiar with some of the other edge bander machineries such as the Holzher Edge bander which was first founded back in 1969 and is claimed that it combines compact design with maximum automation. Secondly, is Hebrock Machinery which currently operates for 40 years and claimed to specialised in the development and production of edge banding machines. There’s also the Homag Edge Banding, which is now in the global business for more than 60 years. Homag Edge Banding claims that it is designed to process a wide range of materials with precision.

SCM Edge banders was first founded back in 1950 and their first series of edgebanders included gluing, butting and trimming units.

One of the best SCM Edgebander we could recommend is the SCM K130 edge bander.  — Feed speed 9 m/min, panel thickness 8-50 mm, edge thickness 0.4-3 mm, are only a few of the best features. Coil holder 800mm, minimum panel length 210mm, minimum panel width 80mm, Teflon-coated glue pot, and sturdy panel support rollers that operate on ball-bushing and may be extended to accommodate bigger panels. Also included are a static inverter, overload motor protection, emergency pushbuttons for infeed and outfeed, a safety enclosure for the operational components, and above mounted independent extraction ducting.

There’s also the SCM K560. The K560 Edgebanders are designed for people who require high performance and versatility.

The Olimpic k 560 is designed for businesses who need to handle a large number of panels every day, even if they are all different. The Olimpic k 560 includes a number of features that ensure the finest possible machining on any panel type. This Edgebander line is quickly becoming a favorite in Australia. Thanks to the precise dose and the specific spreading roller, the “SGP” glue pot produces a beautiful joint line. The anti-adherent plasma treatment and a quick and simple glue changeover make the usage of EVA and Polyurethane glue conceivable. With the AirFusion+ technology, which permits edgebanding without adhesive, the junction between the edge and the panel is virtually imperceptible. On all surfaces, the results are flawless. The controlled axes enable for all intermediate trimming and edge scraping group positioning, ensuring optimum edge banding even on surfaces with varying degrees of roughness or panels covered in protective film. The machining of two different radii, limitless thin edges, and solid wood is possible with these devices. And in addition to that, with two motors, the “Round X” rounding unit increases production and quality. Because of the unit’s features, it can do both trimming and rounding operations at the same time. The two collaborative operations in a single group take up less space and, when combined with the 600 mm working distance between panes, reduce edge banding time.

The End Trim Station on the Mykro PLUS Edge Bander takes a step further by removing extra from the front and back parts of the edge band. This essential feature, which is required in larger edge banders, aids in the automation of the process and reduces the amount of time spent working.

  • Cehisa Flexy C Edge Bander

 

The FLEXY C is the most advanced edgebander in the FLEXY series. It includes the Corner Rounding Unit and dual scrapers as standard, in addition to full cabin security and two saw blade end-trim. Despite the fact that this model was developed for small workshops, it has all of the features of a high-end edgebander and is available in single phase.

  • Cehisa Compact Pcs

 

The most advanced edgebander in the COMPACT series is the COMPACT PCS. The drag chain speed has been increased to 10 m/min, with automatic multi-position adjustment and twin scrapers added, in addition to the implementation of more powerful working groups. Corner rounding, pre-milling, and complete touch screen control with diagnostic support are included as standard features on the machine. Although this model has been designed with a compact and smaller size, in order to be installed and used in workshops with small dimensions, this machine combines all the qualities, features and characteristics of the most high-end edgebanders.

  • Cehisa Pro 12

 

Cehisa’s high-production series begins with the pro 12. Top and bottom trimmers have 5 position independent control, dual radius scrapers (1mm and 2mm), 2 motor corner rounding, and 65mm high Diamond cutting blocks. The machine’s adaptability comes with a speed boost from 12 to 14 m/min and a 10-inch touch screen. Making this a perfect alternative for the high production or bespoke joinery operation. Our Aus -Spec version of this machine has purposely been built with two radius scraping stations for fast change over and has nesting tracers with liquids for high gloss edging.

Adhesives: Hotmelt EVA and Pur resins based.

Equipment: Inverter controlled HF motors, pre-milling, duo-melt gluepot, end trim, top & bottom radius trimmers, corner rounding, PLC, colour touch screen, cabin lighting and liquids for sensitive edging.

 

  • Cehisa Dynamic C-Motion

 

The Cehisa C-Motion Tech is used in this new series to provide maximum precision and agility when modifying the working groups.
